Blown Away

No adjusting of the volume could quiet the news of Covid-19 this week. Scrolling through the feed, each report blared louder than the last. Berated by facts, I cowered from impending doom. I put my phone down to give my brain a break and felt light-headed from it all. Googled, "Is nausea a symptom of coronavirus?" and confirmed I am likely more psycho than somatic.

Projections suggest this is only the beginning, and the decibel level will not quiet for a while. Yet throughout the day, the wind blew through town. From morning 'til dusk, it came in a constant series of billowing waves. The wind shushed a troubled world. It is March's way to blow our lids off, but today was more zephyr than typhoon. For a time, I forgot the grinding engines and screeching brakes. I listened to the comforting whisper, a solicitous hush, and made a wish.

  2. A wish within the wind sounds like a sound idea.

  3. A wish in the wind is being in the moment. I too had to stop reading the news feeds to find some peace.
