I swear the corners of Allie's mouth were upturned today when I ran home for a quick visit at lunch. It wasn't enough time to take a decent walk, but I ate my yogurt while we played a swift game of fetch. Today, she pranced across the yard in typical form, but then she stopped mid-stride and stuck her nose into the air. Breeze ruffled the feathery fur on her ears and she blinked in the sunshine before she turned back to me. One more run--as if checking a box on her to-do list--before she settled into a small patch of grass and let the golden sun warm her golden back.
Who doesn't love to walk outside to greet the spring? It's one of those seasons that puts living creatures of all kinds in a good mood. The days are precious when we know the heat of summer is sure to push most back indoors for a shot of cold air. Or worse, snow will fall, and our laundry baskets will overflow with a mix of short sleeves and fleece. Allie has the right ideas: face the sun, be still, and soak it in.
Good dog, Allie! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the now.
ReplyDeleteSnow may fall - but hopefully not until next week! And, your description of the two kinds of laundry mixed is perfect!
